Newton Press was initially started by the late Syd Howarth, a beloved grandad and local community celebrity. The charity work he accomplished is recognized through his MBE award and reputation in the community. Newton Press has continued to print both the free local community newspaper "The Newton News" and supply commercial printing across the UK.
The company is now run by Stu (Head of Sales), Paul (Head of the Newton News), and Chris (Head of Production) carrying on Syd's legacy. Syd's grandchildren have now joined and are continuing his legacy, learning the business to continue Syd's memory as well as serving the local community.

The type of paper used for different purposes is expressed in weight. In the countries following the European system, it is grams per square meter (gsm or g/m2 or simply g). If you are unsure of your requirements our print sales experts will help advise you on the most suitable paper stock for your orders.
Alternatively, our recent investment in new wide-format printing has granted us the ability to provide full-colour print services on any media, enquire through the "contact us" page to find out more.
Coated papers are available in two finishes – glossy (shiny and smooth) and silk (flat and smooth). Our silk stock is a mixture between matt and uncoated paper providing a better print finish and feel for users. Coated glossy papers reflect the light evenly so they are suitable for almost all types of printing jobs. Uncoated is best for writing on and a more natural finish to the paper. Silk is the usual print stock that we recommend for most print jobs - if you need further help or guidance reach out and contact our expert print sales team who will be more than happy to help.
